Bird Photography Weekly #10

This week I'll share the Osprey I spotted on Sunday afternoon.
When I saw it, all I was thinking was OMG OMG OMG, it's so big! It's so graceful! I hope the pictures come out! And with that, I think I officially became a birder. Now what? Help!

(As always, click on the photos to enlarge)
I just adore the way it's "finger" splay like that! Wow!

Look at it's beak! Yikes! I'd hate to be the fish he/she spotted!

Here it is showing it's unusual flying behavior - more like a gull than a raptor. (got that from the brand new National Geographic Western Birds Guidebook.)

And saying goodbye :( It circled around us a few times - technically over the lake, but it really did go over us more than once. Giving me ample opportunities to snap away. I got some pretty good photographs, but I still need to work on in-flight birds. I just can't get that super crisp and properly exposed image.

Enjoyed introducing myself to all your kittys. What a warm family you have. I like your new blog look. Lots of work! And last but not least, nice osprey images! The more I photograph birds, the more I love it. The good photos are just the icing.

So you finally admit that you enjoy birding!? LOL See, it's fun, isn't it? It's exciting when you see something you've never seen before. Just wait until I get you to capture a few thousand sandhill cranes, in flight! ;o) BTW, great shots as usual, Red.

LOVE THE OSPREY! Red, I have not mastered birds in flight, either, but you did good!

I need practice.

I think you have crossed the line, deary. You mentioned the word, "birder".

HA! HA!
