Bird Photography Weekly #9

I've decided to join this really cool meme :) And best of all, it's a week-long thing, meaning I should actually be able to do one every week! The specific day memes are great, but I invariably let the day slip away :(

So without further ado, Birdfreak hosts this

My bird this week is the Black-headed Grosbeak that showed up in our backyard.
The one above I believe was an adult.
The one below was one of the young'uns.
I'm not sure if this was the same juvie as above or it was different. They were flitting around a lot.
The chicks were very cute :)

Red, good for you to do this. I've thought about it, but I haven't had any good bird pix in a while.

Great shots! Thanks so much for joining our meme!!

Black-headed Grosbeak would be a lifer for some of the Birdfreak Team, a gorgeous bird for sure!

Good birding to you and hope to hear from you every week!

Mom, I'm pretty sure you don't have to use a recent one... or even a beautiful one :) Surely you got something at Palo Alto Baylands.

Thanks Birdfreak! I hope I will do it every week. It's a lifer for me since I hadn't even heard of it before it showed up.

Lovely photos. I especially loved the juvenile!

Birds-a-week!

What camera are you using? You may have told us before, but I missed it.

Thanks Lynne! I thought it was a great idea too :) THanks again Birdfreak!

Welcome Vickie! And thank you :)

LuLu, I'm using a Canon EOS 40D and I'm pretty certain for those birds I was using my Canon 100-400mm IS 4.5-5.6 lens. Most likely at the 400mm level.

hmmm... this may be the only post I mentioned my camera! Silly me 8D
