Bizzy Bees

It's that time of year... lots of bees buzzing around. Monday I saw the tiniest bee I had ever seen, and if I wasn't looking through the macro lens looking for a great shot of a gilia, I wouldn't have noticed it.

Seriously, it's smaller than you think. It was about the size of those flowerets which are maybe 1/8" across, and the bee was maybe 3/16" long.

Here's a few others I've captured.

above... in Washington, DC... and if anyone knows this flower, please tell me, it's driving me insane... I knew it, but I can't remember it!

Yes, it's time for "garden critters" as I call 'em. Keep your eyes and ears alert; there are sure to be more to see and hear.
