There were too many branches in front of its wings, but I'm leaning pretty strongly towards Savannah Sparrow because of the markings on its head. Another possibility would be the Lincoln's Sparrow. Both of these birds winter in your part of California.
Audubon's Warbler is the Western subspecies of the Yellow-Rumped Warbler.

Great bird photos, BTW, we'll make a birder out of you yet! ;-)RuthieJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11663411478574192825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25269877.post-25652895750458678032008-03-02T20:31:00.000-08:002008-03-02T20:31:00.000-08:00just sit out front for a while... eventually that ...just sit out front for a while... eventually that particular one will sit still long enough.Heidihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13302493174417839271noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25269877.post-21829834028108773082008-02-26T20:33:00.000-08:002008-02-26T20:33:00.000-08:00I am so envious of that beautiful chickadee photo....I am so envious of that beautiful chickadee photo.
